Rev. Odell Carter and First Lady Tina Carter

Rev. Odell Carter, Founding Pastor of One Way Life Church, is the 9th of eleven children born to Ruby and Llewellyn Carter in Alexandria, Virginia.  He received his early education in Alexandria Public schools.  Rev. Carter accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at Mt. Jezreel Baptist Church in Alexandria. Professionally, he was a bus operator with WMATA (Metro) for nearly 40 years before retiring in 2013.

Pastor Carter received his formal biblical education and training at the Washington Bible College/Capital Bible Seminary where the main focus was on biblical studies. He was licensed to preach in 2005 and ordained in 2007.  His hands-on leadership training and relationship skills were honed under the leadership of Rev. Fred G. Neal at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church where he served as Trustee, Deacon, Building Fund Treasurer and many other capacities during his 16 year tenure. He later served three years as Assistant to the Pastor, Charles Cofield, at Grace Memorial Baptist Church.  Rev. Carter also gleaned many vital life lessons and practical biblical and life application teachings from the ministry of Pastor Charles Galbreath, Bowie New Life Assembly and Bishop Darnell and Dr. Anita Leach, Shiloh Abundant Life Church.

Rev. Carter's passion for ministry is inspired by II Timothy 4:2, which states, "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine."  Also Proverbs 11:30, "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise".

Rev. Carter is married to Tina Berry Carter and they are the proud parents of four adult children and loving grandparents to six.
